‘Vampire Academy’s Zoey Deutch To Lead Rom-Com ‘Cover Girl’

EXCLUSIVEVampire Academy and Beautiful Creatures star Zoey Deutch is set to lead Cover Girl, an original romantic comedy helmed by Gray Matters director Sue Kramer. Kramer rewrote the script by Gren Wells (The Road Within) about Meg, a Queens, NY girl who finds herself a fish out of water attending Cambridge Business School while financing her studies in an unusual way. Vampire Diaries showrunner Julie Plec is producing with Dignity Film Finance’s Maggie Monteith (Searching For Sugarman), Jill Footlick (Greetings From Tim Buckley), and Brent Emery (The Road Within). Wells is exec producer.

Dignity Film Finance is backing the pic and is also financing Kramer’s adaptation of God of Driving, based on Vanity Fair contributor and Manhattan socialite Amy Fine Collins’ 2011 book. Filming on that pic is slated for next Spring. First up lensing will be Cover Girl which shoots this summer in London, Cambridge and New York, with sales underway this week in Cannes. Kramer is repped by WME. Deutch, whose screen credits also include TV’s Ringer and The Suite Life on Deck, is repped by Innovative Artists and Gilbertson Entertainment. Wells is repped by Paradigm and Media Talent Group.
